Bacchus Bar and Bistro
Nestled the corner of Quail Hill plaza is a chic little wine bar called Bacchus Bar and Bistro. It’s classy interior provides the perfect setting for that date night you have been meaning to take. The ambiance at Bacchus feels like a mix of Old World European crossed with the charm of the rustic countryside. Parking was easy and there is even a patio out front where you can enjoy the fresh air or smoke a cigar if you choose.
Bacchus Staff
The staff is very knowledgable about wines. If you have a question or are wanting a recommendation ask for Shauna. She was a little bit of east coast and a whole lot of fun. She was courteous and treated us very well. We also met one of the co-owners as well as chef Leo who crafts the most delicious seasonally inspired menu.
Wine
Bacchus has a great selection of wines with several of them being in the drier range consistent with California tastes. There is a gorgeous glass cabinet in the back of the restaurant that is stocked with the finest of flavors. My husband tried the red wine flight and enjoyed all three of them. Each glass has enough to form 1 full glass if combined together,
I had a nice buttery chardonnay that our waitress called “cougar juice”. It was full-bodied and had additional flavors of vanilla, butter and even caramel from the oak.
Food
My absolute favorite item on the menu was an appetizer. We ordered the shady canyon board and came with a combination of Three Artisan Cheeses & Three Gourmet Meats. The prosciutto was so fresh and thinly sliced and the salami paired well with the honey and fruit. The cheeses were smoked Gouda, Camembert brie and a gorgonzola. I cant wait to come back and order this again!
We also ordered an ahi tuna tower that came with Black Pepper Crust, Mango, Cucumber & Avocado Salsa, Ponzu Vinaigrette. Not only did it look beautiful but it tasted as beautiful as it looked!
Next up, the pear salad. this is a pretty large salad and totally sharable. Roasted Pears, Pecans, Belgian Endive, Mixed Greens, Gorgonzola and Balsamic Vinaigrette. Chef Leo convinced us to add some shrimp to it for some added protein and we were so thrilled with it. It was very tasty with the pear slices.
After all those appetizers I was worried I didn’t have room for a main entrée so my husband and I decided we would share the lamb lollipops. Three lamb chops are arranged tightly on a bed of fluffy Mashed Potatoes, summer vegetables and drizzled with a Napa Cabernet Reduction.
Dessert
I wore my stretchy pants to dinner knowing I was going to have some dessert and Bacchus Bistro and Bar did not disappoint. Chef Leo brought us out a flourless chocolate cake with strawberries and it was incredible. It has a gluten-free center and a chocolate ganache on top.
We also tried the pots de creme which is like a chocolate mousse served in a low mason jar and topped with berries, powdered sugar and mint.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Bacchus Bar and Bistro. The atmosphere is relaxing and is a good place to go on a casual date or to discuss a business deal. Great wine and beer options and we will definitely be back!
