Bayside Restaurant in NB makes Waves with New Interior
When I walk into a restaurant part of the thing that appeals to me is a lovely decor. When I feel relaxed in a restaurant it sort of sets the mood for how my dinner is going to go. So I love it when restaurants update and remodel to keep customers feeling refreshed and impressed. That is exactly what Bayside restaurant in NB has done.
Award-winning Bayside restaurant, a mainstay in Newport Beach for 14 years, has undergone a complete interior renovation. Corona del Mar based Ginger Thomas Design oversaw the 6-month project that sought to give the restaurant a more contemporary and sophisticated feel.
Among the interior renovations are new furnishings and accessories, reupholstered booths, redesigned entrance and hostess station, new window treatments, an expanded bar and drapery panels in the main dining area. The VIP Tower, which separates the 2 main dining rooms, has a softer feel thanks to new fabrics, artwork, seating and a design that offers greater privacy than before. The patio saw the addition of new furnishings and patio shades so guests may comfortably take in the water views without suffering the harsh glare from the sun.
“From the new color scheme, seating and fabric upholstery to more modern lighting, art and acoustical improvements, Bayside now has a cosmopolitan look and ambiance associated with only the most sophisticated dining establishments,” said Thomas, whose design talent can be found throughout Southern California’s premier restaurants. “One of my favorite new elements is the generous use of macassar ebony on many of the surfaces and privacy booths. This is a wood that is almost entirely found in remote areas of Indonesia. Another highlight is the silver-metallic wall treatment in the VIP Tower room that makes the art really pop.”
Added Marc Ghoukassian, “We took risks with some unexpected design choices that ultimately worked, giving Bayside an air of elegance and modernity. Our intention was to give the restaurant a facelift without going overboard and I think we succeeded.”
Bayside is a contemporary, family-owned dining establishment with an extensive menu emphasizing fresh seafood and prime steaks as well as other entree selections. The 246-seat restaurant overlooks the tranquil waters of Newport Harbor and features design elements that showcase an ever-evolving fine art exhibition. Live entertainment is offered nightly and during Sunday Champagne brunch in the bar and lounge. The restaurant and bar has a wine list featuring 400 labels and 35 by-the-glass selections. It’s bar is a stand-out with a number of hand-crafted specialty cocktails. Located at 900 Bayside Drive in Newport Beach, CA.
