Feast on Filet and Lobster at Roy’s
Limited-Time Filet & Lobster Dinner
Last week I mourned celebrated my last year in my 30’s. I love celebrating birthday’s and my husband and I decided to do it up right by enjoying a delicious dinner at Roy’s in Newport Beach. For a limited time, they are offering a surf and turf experience for an amazing price of only $32.95. It includes the following:
- Appetizer: Lobster Potstickers with Spicy Japanese Togarashi Miso Butter Sauce, prepared with Ginger, Garlic, and Thai Basil
- Entrée: Charred Filet Mignon with a Coriander Chimichurri Sauce and Ginger Glazed Lobster Tail
We started off with a tasty edamame sampler. What makes this appetizer so remarkable is the use of shichimi (Japanese red pepper seasoning). The edamame is offered complimentary at every table.
While we were waiting, we sipped on some cocktails and tasted the spring rolls with chili sauce. Our waitress had a huge rush of tables come in before us so she was very sweet and brought out the rolls to hold us over until she could get to us.
I had the Buffalo Trace Manhattan which had bourbon, Vya Sweet Vermouth, and a Luxardo Cherry. My husband had a jalapeno margarita which had Tanteo Jalapeño infused Tequila, Organic Agave, and Fresh Lime. And, since it was my birthday I also had a Hawaiian Martini that had Maui Pineapple drenched in SKYY Vodka, Stoli Vanilla, and Malibu Coconut Rum. I had this at the very end of dinner, though.
I had spotted Poke on the menu as soon as we sat down and being that Poke is my all time favorite food I had to order it. This is by far some of the best poke I have ever tasted. It is served with homemade Taro chips and the flavor combination of the avocado and truffle oil is amazing! I tried this poke again the very next day at the Newport Beach Wine and Food festival and it was just as good.
We also shared a side garden salad and the lettuce was very fresh and green. I love a good salad with my meal and if you aren’t in the mood for a salad, they have many other vegetable options like Szechuan Style Green Beans or kim chee.
Finally, our main entrees arrived and I loved how pretty the plating was. Your lobster comes already out of the shell and the steak is tender with a delicious pico de gallo topping. It was just the right portion size as we were somewhat full from all of our appetizers.
The best part of my meal though had to be the Gluten-Free chocolate souffle. Wow! It was like warm lava flowing from the inside and it tasted so good with the cold ice cream. I am looking forward to returning and trying some of the other menu items. Everything sounded so appetizing.
