Good Choice Sushi Not Such A Good Choice
Good Choice Sushi
A couple of weeks ago my brother and I popped into a little sushi restaurant in Laguna Niguel called “Good Choice Sushi”. The name is ironic because it didn’t turn out to be such a good choice for us.
For starters when we walked in there was no one else in the restaurant. Just us. That should have been our first sign. But we sat down anyway. What was even more startling was that the sushi chef behind the counter was arguing with the manager right in front of us. And I’m not talking about a disagreement. I’m talking about raised, harsh voices. AWKWARD!!! It seriously took about 8-10 minutes for the sushi chef to even acknowledge us. No greeting, no hello. Just “what can I get you”?. Finally when the waitress came to take our drink orders she had a bit of an attitude. Like a chip on her shoulder as if we were inconveniencing her for being there.
My brother and I both ordered the same thing. The Poke Bowl. It was $11.50 per bowl. I have to say they get a 10/10 for presentation. However, the flavor was mild, there was too much rice and the poke was really fatty.
The Salad that it came with also had a really strange creamy dressing instead of the typical ginger dressing typically served at Japanese restaurants. It tasted like someone smothered mayonnaise all over the lettuce.
Sorry to say but we wont be back. Try Bistro Anju in Aliso Viejo instead.
I think you must have had a bad experience as I personally have been coming to Good Choice since I was 5 (now 21) and have never had a bad experience like this. I love their sushi and I’ve never had bad service or a bad experience like what you described. As a loyal Good Choice go-er I would highly suggest trying them again – this review doesn’t represent any aspect of my experiences with the restaurant. If you’re looking for casual reasonably priced sushi in Laguna Niguel then Good Choice is 100% you’re best choice!
