Harvest Restaurant at The Ranch Laguna Beach
Laguna Beach just became even more enticing with the addition of a new breakfast restaurant called “Harvest” at the almost completed hotel “The Ranch in Laguna Beach“.
The hotel itself will not be finished until the end of 2015, however, they have completed a full patio makeover including the menu! Although the indoor restaurant will not reopen until fall, they are showcasing some of their culinary favorites on the patio for breakfast and lunch daily!
Last week I dined with my family and we sampled several of chef Cameron’s delicious creations. This is by far one of the best breakfast spots I have ever eaten at in the OC.
The View at Harvest
The view from the patio is absolutely breathtaking. Huge canyon views and lush green grass from the golf course dazzle your eyes while you dine. You can watch the golfers play and you might even get lucky enough to see some wild animals on the greens
The Furniture
The furniture on the patio is beautiful teak wood with big shady umbrellas to block you from the sun. I almost felt like I was at a lodge but with a more sophisticated and upscale feel.
The Food
Chef Camron Woods oversees the Harvest restaurant, as well as their banquet and catering program. On the day that we dined we chose to let chef Camron surprise us with some of his dishes and he most definitely did not disappoint.
The first dish he brought out was a Smoked Bourbon Bacon Cinnamon Roll. Let’s just say my kids began drooling with their tongues hanging out of their mouths like hungry wolves. The bacon was candied and literally melted in your mouth. It had such a distinct flavor and we devoured this beauty in about 5 minutes flat. It took some serious willpower not to lick the plate clean.
The next dish we tried was the Southern Style made with Scrambled Eggs, Pork Sausage, and Cheddar Grits. I haven’t had grits in years and I was delighted to try them. They were the perfect consistency and paired really well with the light and fluffy eggs. The sausage was amazing and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Next up was Brioche french toast with Chocolate, Hazelnuts, and Whipped Cream. The hazelnuts were a great crunchy addition and it didn’t even need syrup because it was perfect just the way it was.
For those that want to eat a little lighter, I suggest ordering the egg white frittata with Spinach, Tomatoes, and Queso Fresco. This dish presents so beautifully and tastes great.
If you like a little kick in your breakfast, try the Baja omelet made with homemade Chorizo, Jack Cheese, and Guacamole. My son said it tasted like a taco with eggs instead of a tortilla.
We also enjoyed a side of thick maple bacon and sausage with some unbelievably sweet melon and figs!
The Harvest far exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to come back again.
I’m trying to find a menu..although the pages have “menu” when you click on it nothing happens..I’ve been to the Ranch before the change in ownership..we are eager to try the menu offerings but I would like to see a printed menu on your Web site thanks
