Maro Wood Grill
Laguna Beach has an amazing culinary scene that will send any foodie into a frenzy. From Seafood to Mexican food, Laguna offers a wide array of tastes for anyone looking for an adventure in dining. One specific restaurant that really stands out is Maro Wood Grill , an Argentinean-inspired steakhouse that brings out the richest flavors you have ever tasted.
Owned by Mariano Molteni, he and executive chef Debra Sims create a delicious Argentinean fire and wood grilled cuisine inspired by Chef Sims revolving rustic menu. They Source local produce, grass fed beef and make everything from scratch. It doesn’t get much better than that.
On a recent tasting I sampled a variety of menu items created by Chef Sims who is totally amazing to talk to in person and has so much pride in her food.
Maro Interior
They say first impressions are always the most important and Maro definitely nailed it. We started off with some wood grilled green beans and mesquite grilled edamame with rock salt. These were so delicious and I loved the char on them. It really created such a nice flavor. We also tasted spinach and mushroom empanadas as well as a wild mushroom Ceviche on grilled sourdough.
We also enjoyed some refreshing Sangria made with fresh fruit and wine.
Maro Seafood, Salads & More
Next up we had Ricotta Noquis & Grilled tomatoes. The dumplings were perfectly light and fluffy with just the right amount of density to them. We also sampled Wood Grilled Oysters Rockefeller and a grilled Fennel and fig salad which was a first for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the fennel as it was slighty crunchy yet sweet.
Maro Entrees
Last up was our main entrees. This evening I had the best piece of Lamb I have ever had. It was juicy, tender and not at all gamey. I raved about it to chef Sims and she even offered to cook another one for me, although I declined. We also sampled some Flat Iron steak & Chimichurri as well as some short rib with roasted vegetables. All of it was amazing and all I could think about was inviting my husband back to try all of it.
