Diverse flavors abound from casual local neighborhood eateries, to elegant fine dining, to expansive entertainment complex’s filled with fun, one-of-a-kind guest experiences and a world-class gathering place for locals and visitors.
One such entertainment complex is the Anaheim Gardenwalk, situated in the heart of the Anaheim Resort District just steps from the Disneyland® Resort and Anaheim Convention Center. It is also just a short drive from Honda Center and Angel Stadium. This 60,000 square-foot outdoor dining, shopping and entertainment destination is a dream come true for any foodie as there is a plethora of cuisines to choose from, each having their own unique style.
Last month I had the opportunity to attend an intimate progressive dinner with some close friends where we covered several restaurants in the Anaheim Gardenwalk. I loved visiting each restaurant to learn about new menu items and get a feel of the overall vibe for each place.
Roy’s Restaurant
We started out at two of their Asian Fusion restaurants for drinks and appetizers. First up was Roy’s Restaurant. The first thing we tried was the Infused Hawaiian Martini. Skyy vodka, Stoli Vanil, and Malibu rum are mixed together along with some sugar and sweet, delicious pineapple chunks. After three days of infusing, the cocktail is ready to be served.
Then we sampled the Lakanilau Roll. This beauity is a masterpiece in itself, and almost too beautiful to eat. However, it was calling my name and oh my gosh it was divine! The roll is made with Wagyu Beef – Snow Crab – Tempura Asparagus – Avocado – Sesame Miso and Truffled Greens. I highly recommend this appetizer to everyone,
If you want something a little more hearty, try the Crispy Kung Pao calamari. It is flash fried and coated with a spicy sweet chili sauce and topped with black and white sesame seeds.
PF Chang’s
After Roy’s, we headed over to PF Changs for some more appetizers and drinks. A favorite cocktail of mine at PF changes is their Long Island Iced Tea. Made with Cruzan Mango, Guava and Aged Light Rums with fresh sour mix and a splash of cranberry, this cocktail packs quite a punch. It is wildly popular and very refreshing. My friend had an Asian pear mint Mojito which she also said she enjoyed.
Also a favorite of mine, is the hand-folded crab wontons. These are extremely addicting and I bet you could eat 2 orders of them. Ok, so maybe I am talking about myself, but honestly these are so good!
Craving something light? No problem! The Orange Ginger Edamame are steamed to order, sprinkled with a zesty citrus salt, orange peels and chili flakes, or you can also order them traditional-style tossed simply with Kosher salt .
Nothing beats the dynamite shrimp! The shrimp is tempura-battered, tossed in a light, spicy sriracha aioli and it has almost a creamy consistency to it. The shrimp are very tender and this meal could even be eaten as an entree.
Last up were the trio of tacos. We tried the Lobster Tacos, the Kund Pao chicken tacos, and the Pork Tacos. All tacos are served in served in a signature crisp jicama shells and the presentation is gorgeous.
Come see what we had for our main entree and dessert in Part 2 of our progressive dinner.
