Review: Angelina’s Pizzeria in Irvine
Located in the new Los Olivos Marketplace on Irvine Center Drive, just across the 405 and minutes away from the Spectrum, is one of Orange county’s trendiest new restaurants called Angelina’s Pizzeria.
The restaurant has super convenient parking and the decor is hip, while the atmosphere and vibe are chic and modern.
Angelina’s offers an extensive selection of Italian Wines and hand crafted cocktails to compliment your Napolitan dining experience.
On a recent visit, we started our night off with a delicious platter of “Scelta Di Salumi & Formaggi”. It included a Chef Selection Of Italian Cured Meats And Cheeses Sliced. Everything from Prosciutto to pepperoni, to salami and fine cheese.
For my main dish I had “Pollo Alla Diavola” made with Free Range Chicken Breast Roasted In a Pizza Oven. The crispy potatoes were so flavorful and the carrots and broccolini were a nicely paired side dish.
My oldest son who loves sausage, ordered the “Salsiccia Al Forno”. This protein rich dish comes with Napoletana Style Sausage Served On A Bed Of Roasted Bell Peppers and Topped With Gorgonzola Cheese Fondue.
My middle son tried something new this evening and ordered the calzone which must say was out of this world! He had never had a calzone before so he had nothing to compare it to, but I have and it was phenomenal. It was Stuffed With Fior Di Latte Mozzarella, Marzano Pomodoro DOP Sauce, and Baked Ham. We will definitely be ordering this again when we return.
My husband loves seafood and the manager suggested we try the Octopus and shrimp salad. The fish was plentiful but blended so nicely with the fresh greens and arugula. Octopus is tricky to cook, but the texture was cooked to perfection.
If you like Pizza, and you should if you are dining at a places called Angelina’s Pizzeria, then you will love their gourmet Napoletana pizzas. They are baked in a 900 degree wood-burning oven-using rustic Almond wood fire. Angelina’s uses the finest quality ingredients imported from Italy, and fresh organic Basil grown locally in California. The sauce is made from scratch using flavorful San Marzano tomatoes and the beautifully crafted dough is made daily.
if you can find room for dessert, I highly recommend Angelina’s Cannoli. It has a crispy shell filled with sweet, creamy ricotta filling. The pistachio ice cream is really tasty too.
