Review Of Puffy Shelled Tacos At El Pollo Loco
Yesterday I picked my son up from school and we headed to El Pollo Loco for an after school snack as wanted to try their new puffy shelled tacos
My son ordered The Chicken Guacamole Tacos. You get 2 huge puffy tacos stuffed with ingredients like pinto beans, chicken, guacamole, cotija cheese and green cabbage with pico de gallo and sour cream. He loved the flavor and said the texture of the shell was really good. It was airy yet still crunchy. The only issue with these tacos is that they are SUPER leaky. There was juice pouring out of our tacos which made it a little tricky because it’s hard to enjoy something when your hand is covered in taco juice. It was nothing a few napkins couldn’t solve though.
I ordered the Chicken Avocado Poblano Tacos. Again, I also received 2 huge tacos filled with Monterey Jack cheese, chicken thigh meat, lettuce, poblano cream sauce, California avocado and pico de gallo salsa.. I absolutely love thigh meat so I really enjoyed this taco. I was amazed at just how filling this combo was.
Each of our combos came with chips and a drink and we helped ourselves to the salsa bar. I dipped my taco into their spicy avocado salsa and it was delicious.
