Superior Pizza At Settebello – Media Tasting
Settebello coming to Newport Beach
Newport Beach is about to gain a superior Pizzeria called Settebello. This Neapolitan haven boasts beautiful architecture, open ceilings and authentic Italian food.
Last week Erin and I were invited to come for a preview prior to their grand opening and we were so impressed with how beautiful this restaurant is. From the moment you walk in it feels welcoming and cozy, with wood paneling, bench seats and an open atrium ceiling allowing for tons of natural light and crisp fresh air.
At the back of the restaurant there is a really neat feature where they project old Italian movies on the wall in black and white. It is very charming. Speaking of walls, there is a gorgeous wine wall featuring all kinds
Our dining experience started out with some refreshing cocktails from the bar. I had the “Off-shore bank account and Erin had a vodka basil gimlet.
Settebello Appetizers
Then we moved onto appetizers. Our first one was deviled eggs with cured salami. Then we had bacon wrapped dates, Duck Confit and Polenta with asparagus and Mushroom Sauce.
After appetizers we moved to a long table to start dinner.
Settebello Salads
The first course had a variety of different salads. The first one was a mixed Green Insalata with Kalamata olives, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Cracked Pepper, and Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. The second salad was an heirloom tomato salad and it was amazing! Not only was it rich in color but the flavors of the tomatoes were bold and wonderful. Lastly we tried the Radicchio salad. I have never had a salad of just Radicchio but it was delicious.
Settebello Pizza
After salads came THE PIZZA!!! My favorite was The Margherita Pizza. It had Crushed Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Basil, Parmigiano Reggiano, Extra Virgin Olive Oil. We also had:
- The Vico Pizza (Wood Oven Sausage, Sauteed Fennel, Red Onions, Mascarpone, Mozzarella, Basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
- The Diavola (Crushed Tomatoes, Finnochiona (Peppered Salame), Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Crushed Red Peppers, Garlic, Mozzarella, Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
- Quattro Formaggi (Four Cheese) (Crushed Tomatoes, Fontina Cheese, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, Basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
Settebello Dessert
As if appetizers and Pizza weren’t enough we also enjoyed an amazing selection of desserts. The first one was called “Torta della Nonna” and I could have eaten 3 of them. It was lemon heaven for me. The Torta was a lemon tart with the most amazing crust. It was thick and flaky and heavenly.
We also had these little dough balls that were filled with Nutella and then sprinkled with sugar.
After Dessert we got a chance to go into the kitchen where they make the pizza and look at Pizza Kiln that was imported all the way from Italy. We also watched them make a Pizza in less than a minute.
Settebello will make an amazing location for Date night and I am so excited to bring my husband back to try it! Thank you to Sam
