Outrageous Laughs At The Book Of Mormon
Outrageous Laughs At The Book Of Mormon
This may not be a restaurant review but what I can tell you is that this show is better than any steak and lobster dinner you will ever have.
The Book of Mormon features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. These are the creators of “South Par”k so you have to know going into it, the show is very much on the crass side. Tony Award-winner Lopez is co-creator of the long-running hit musical comedy, Avenue Q. The musical is choreographed by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone) and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker. The singing and dancing in this show is absolutely amazing. There is tap dancing and fantastic choreography that really floored me.
Set and Costume Design
The Book of Mormon features set design by Scott Pask, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound design by Brian Ronan. Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and Stephen Oremus. I couldn’t help but laugh because some of the guys in Africa were wearing board shorts which made it that much more funny.
